19 April 2017 email from Rob Van Wicklen provides a 1925 news clip from the Brooklyn Daily Star [15 May 1925] that provides evidence of additional children of Samual and Annie Van Wicklen. Here is the text of the news clip…  Cite and I.R.T. must pay woman $21,500 for death of her husband. A verdict of $21,500 was awarded by a jury yesterday to Mrs. Annie Van Wicklen, 261 Forty-third [Kingsland] avenue, Corona, in her $50,000 damage suit against the City of New York and the Interborough Rapid Transit Company for the death of her husband. Each of the defendants is ordered to pay half the verdict. The case was tried in Part I of Queens Supreme Court before Justice James C. Cropsey. Counsel for Mrs. Van Wicklin said her husband was injured on September 7, 1923 when he fell into a hole at the Huntersport avenue station of the I.R.T. and injured his foot. Infection set it, the counsel said, and Van Wicklen died on November 14, 1923. He was on his way to work as engineer of the municipal incinerator plant at Rockaway Beach when the accident befell. Mrs. Van Wicklen has five children, John, Mrs. Harriet Garret, George, Mrs. Ethel Wigge and Mrs Edna Clayton. Counsel for both the city and the I.R.T. denied that they were guilty of negligence. Assistant Corporation Counsel Robert J. Culhane tried the case for the city.
